Coming to the End of a Campaign

I have a long running (for me) campaign coming to an end soon. It is based on an idea I heard on the Happy Jacks podcast. Two sets of gods fighting it out with the PCs stuck in the middle.

In actual play it has been about six months. Game time of about four weeks. Overall time about a year and a half.

I have only ended a couple other campaigns, and only one other with this group (a Star Wars Saga campaign). It was OK, but not satisfying. Which of course begs the question, what makes a good ending?

For me (the GM perspective) it should be exciting (duh), and wrap up loose ends. I don’t like coming back to a campaign again.

For the PCs I “think” that the same would apply, but I haven’t done a good job of finding out what they want. It may be too late now. I don’t think there are more than a few (three max – but what do I know – really).

So I’m ramping up the villains and the PCs for the next few episodes. Listen for the explosions.

Thank you for asking. Next campaign will be super heroes running Fate Core. You know your current campaign is ending when you start cheating and reading other system core books.
