A New Source of Inspiration – Kids

While working on a new adventure for a local gaming day I ran into a block on the villain. Who was it? What was the plan? Even what was a name! Hate it when part of the idea for a game jumps directly into your brain and leaves he rest fatally stranded on an island in the pacific (queue trombone music from Lost).

My solution – ask my boys. I have two boys age 12 and 10. Their solution was to start by describing the latest thing they built with LEGOs and go from there. Brilliant. So now I have both a villain and a mini!

Another ten minutes discussing why and how it was created and I have both the plot and more background on the heroes.*

And I thought they only paid attention to Minecraft.

So in the spirit of use everything. Don’t forget to use your kids (or somebody else’s kids) Imagination unbound.

*No I’m not going to tell you the villain and the plot. You have to wait just like my players.
